Bright and Refreshing Cocktails to Savor the Season

Spring is a time of new growth and energy, and what better way to celebrate the changing of the seasons than with a refreshing spring cocktail? Check out some of our bourbon-based favorites that still keep it light with floral or citrus notes.

Mint Julep

mint julepA classic for a reason! With over 120,000 consumed at the Kentucky Derby race alone, it’s no wonder this longtime favorite is topping our list. Mint, bourbon, and sugar make this cocktail as refreshing as it is delicious.

For a non-alcoholic version, try swapping the bourbon for ginger ale or lemonade.

8 mint leaves
1/4 ounce simple syrup
2 ounces bourbon
Crushed ice
Garnish: mint sprig
Garnish: Angostura bitters (optional)

Spiked Arnold Palmer

While this drink is technically non-alcoholic to start with, we do enjoy it spiked with a little bourbon. The depth and complexity of the bourbon pairs beautifully with the sweetness of the tea and sourness of the lemonade.

Style points for being able to keep your beverage layers separated until serving time!

3 ounces prepared lemonade
3 ounces prepared iced tea
1 cup ice
2 ounces bourbon
Garnish: lemon wheel and/or mint sprig
